Review by Gene Giromini

Gutebälgarna Visby Storband's self-titled album is a delightful collection of jazz tunes that will transport listeners to a bygone era. The band, which hails from Visby, Sweden, showcases its impeccable musicianship on this album, which features a mix of original compositions and classic jazz standards. The brass section is particularly noteworthy, with its rich, full-bodied sound that is both powerful and nuanced. The rhythm section also shines, providing a solid foundation for the band's improvisational flights of fancy. this album is a must-listen for jazz aficionados and anyone who appreciates great music.

About Gutebälgarna Visby Storband

Swedish accordion society from Gotland, formed in 1974 by the initiative of and . The Gutebälgarna quickly became one of Sweden's most popular accordion societies, with an unusually mixed, broad and arranged repertoire. The focus had the character of jazz, gammeltjo, folk music in a slightly different way and a slightly different style of play. You could, for example, hear the accordion imitating the bagpipe in a way you did not think was possible. Much thanks to 's fantastic ability to write arrangements. The repertoire has changed over the years and has for a long time consisted of more traditional accordion music and folk music, although from time to time it can "swing to" a little extra. A motto for the society is to, as far as possible, still maintain an arranged repertoire. The society makes between 30 and 40 performances annually, mainly together with Visby Folkdansgille and Gotlands district of the folk dance ring, but also manages to include about 10 own gigs.
